Endocrinology

Endocrinology derived from the Greek words: ἔνδον — “inside”, κρίνω — “discharge”, λόγος — “science”) . It is a branch of science of structure and functions of the endocrine glands , properties and action of their specific secretions – hormones, diseases related to disorder of function of these glands.  The endocrine glands are the organs secreting the specific substances directly into blood and lymph.

The endocrine glands include: epiphysis, hypophysis, thyroid glands, parathyroid gland, pancreas, thymus, adrenal glands, seminal glands, ovaries.

Endocrine diseases include disorders of thyroid gland, insular diabetes, diabetes insipidus, osteoporosis, diseases of sexual organs, obesity etc.
