Ophthalmology: ophthalmologist in Batumi
The group of ophthalmologists of "Khozrevanidze Clinic" offers patients a full spectrum of both outpatient and surgical treatment.
Laser Vision Correction at Khozrevanidze Clinic
Ophthalmology encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, conservative management, laser treatment, and surgical treatment of diseases affecting the eyes and visual system. The clinic provides comprehensive vision assessment, modern diagnostic examinations, and ophthalmic procedures of varying complexity.
An ophthalmology consultation is recommended for patients experiencing reduced vision, eye pain or redness, changes in the visual field, elevated intraocular pressure, increased sensitivity to light, or other eye-related symptoms.
Our Services
Ophthalmology Consultation
A detailed assessment of the patient’s symptoms, medical history, and visual function. Based on the findings, the necessary diagnostic examinations are determined and an individualized treatment plan is developed.
Main Diagnostic Examinations
Biomicroscopy
Detailed examination of the anterior segment of the eye and its structures using a slit lamp. The examination is used to assess the condition of the cornea, conjunctiva, iris, lens, and other ocular structures.
Autorefraction
Automated assessment of the eye’s refractive status, helping to identify myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.
Visual Acuity Testing
Assessment of visual acuity at distance and near, with selection of appropriate optical correction when necessary.
Tonometry
Measurement of intraocular pressure. This examination is important for the detection of glaucoma and monitoring of disease progression.
Ocular Ultrasound
Ultrasound assessment of the internal structures of the eye, particularly when direct visualization is limited.
Ophthalmoscopy — Fundus Examination
Assessment of the retina, optic nerve head, and retinal blood vessels. The examination is used to detect changes associated with retinal and optic nerve disorders, as well as certain systemic diseases.
Additional Diagnostic Examinations
Optical Biometry
Precise measurement of the anatomical parameters of the eye, particularly important before cataract surgery for calculating the power of an artificial intraocular lens.
Intraocular Lens Selection and Astigmatism Correction Planning
The VERION image-guided system enables precise determination of intraocular lens parameters before cataract surgery and detailed planning of astigmatism correction. The system is used for both preoperative planning and intraoperative surgical guidance.
Corneal Topography and Pachymetry
The Oculyzer system is used to assess the shape, curvature, and thickness of the cornea. The examination is used for diagnosing keratoconus, monitoring corneal conditions, and evaluating patients before laser vision correction.
Gonioscopy
Examination of the anterior chamber angle of the eye, used to determine the type of glaucoma and assess the pathways through which intraocular fluid drains.
Computerized Perimetry
Visual field testing that helps detect and monitor glaucoma, optic nerve disorders, and certain neurological conditions.
Optical Coherence Tomography — OCT
A non-invasive imaging examination that provides highly detailed images of the retina, optic nerve, and other ocular structures. OCT is used for the diagnosis and follow-up of various ophthalmic conditions.
Laser Vision Correction
Excimer Laser Vision Correction — LASIK
LASIK is used to correct myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism in appropriately selected patients. The aim of the procedure is to reshape the cornea and improve the optical focusing ability of the eye.
Before laser vision correction, a comprehensive ophthalmic examination is performed, including assessment of visual acuity, refraction, corneal shape and thickness, the ocular fundus, and other important parameters. Eligibility for the procedure is determined individually, as LASIK is not suitable for every patient.
During the consultation, the expected outcome, recovery period, possible restrictions, and procedure-related risks are discussed with the patient.
Surgical and Laser Treatment
Sutureless Cataract Surgery
Removal of the clouded natural lens and replacement with an artificial intraocular lens. The type and parameters of the intraocular lens are selected according to the results of preoperative examinations and the patient’s visual needs.
Laser Treatment of Posterior Capsule Opacification (Secondary Cataract)
Treatment of posterior capsule opacification that may develop after cataract surgery using Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy. The aim of the procedure is to restore optical clarity and improve vision when clinically indicated.
Glaucoma Surgery
Surgical procedures aimed at reducing intraocular pressure and limiting the risk of further optic nerve damage. The surgical method is selected according to the type and stage of glaucoma and the results of previous treatment.
Retinal Laser Surgery — Photocoagulation
Laser treatment may be used for various retinal conditions according to clinical indications. The procedure may aim to treat affected retinal areas and reduce the risk of further disease progression.
Surgical Treatment of Eye Injuries
Assessment of traumatic injuries affecting the eye and surrounding structures, followed by planning of the appropriate surgical intervention.
Eyelid Surgery
Surgical correction of congenital, acquired, functional, and other disorders of the eyelids.
Surgical Treatment of Pterygium
Surgical removal of a wing-shaped growth on the surface of the eye when clinically indicated.
Our Approach
The diagnostic and treatment plan is developed individually based on the patient’s symptoms, visual function, anatomical characteristics of the eye, and the results of diagnostic examinations.
Modern diagnostic equipment enables detailed assessment of different ocular structures, accurate planning of laser or surgical procedures, and subsequent monitoring of treatment outcomes.
